My furry friends have a special place in my heart and home. Today, they all are my constant companions and have helped fill a void I had in my life as my children reached adulthood and moved into their own lives.
It’s hard to remember a time in my entire life when I did not have a furry friend. From a little girl growing up in Indiana, to a married woman living in Illinois, on to a divorced mountain lady living in West Virginia, I have always had pets.
Sometimes my pets go on vacations with me now. Sometimes we head to the local Dairy Queen for a cold and tasty treat. Other times, we venture off into the mountains and take hikes or four-wheeler rides to find new discoveries. And at other times, we venture to a pet store where my fur-babies shop for their latest snack addiction.
One of my pets, Miss Dalilah, is my adventurer. She loves to hop on the four-wheeler with me and travel around the mountains in search of anything we can find and sometimes nothing at all. Dalilah sits perched on the seat, right in front of me as we ride on trails or go off the beaten path to find new areas. She loves a slow pace as she enjoys taking in all the sights and smells. She has become quite the popular “person” around these parts, and people will smile, wave and shake their heads at us as we go past on one of our many adventures.
You may wonder about my “human” family. I have an enormous family here in West Virginia and many other states as well. I’ll eventually get around to sharing bits and pieces of my life with them as well.
